A fine violin by one of the most acomplished makers of the period. Paul Kaul was born in Mirecourt in 1875, he worked for Silvestre & Maucotel in Paris for five years from 1900 and eventually established his own atelier in Nantes in 1907. His instruments have received much praise over the years from professional players, both for the great maturity of tone and the lustre of the transparent varnish. The condition of this instrument is excellent, no repairs or damage other than a small amount of wear to the varnish on the front, numerous brands inside the violin and also below the button, see the extra images link above price and then scroll through them. The back length is 360 mm. In the 1920s, Kaul created an exceptional instrument for the renowned violinist, Lucien Capet who desbribed the joy he felt in Kaul's "magnificent violin". Kaul went on to make a number of violins en modèle Capet, of which this is one. Made in 1930, it has a wonderful vibrant tone, good balance and a lovely deep bass sound. A superb collector and players instrument!
