NICOLAS BERTHOLINI
luthier de S.M. l'Empereur
et de la Cour de France
fecit anno 1810
A Nicolas Bertholini violin, they are good intermediate grade violins with a balanced tone, sonorous base and good volume, always pre-dated to 1810 but actually made between 1910 and 1930. The length of the back is 14.1/8 inches (358 mm). In sound but scruffy condition, some minor ancient repairs including both saddle cracks, varius scratches and imperfections but with a nice balanced sweet tone. Set up with rosewood fittings, Pro-Arte strings and supplied in a new lined case. Scruffy, cheap but with a good tone!
