The label is inscribed:

Mansuy a Paris

A  Mansuy a Parisviolin with the vestige of a label, these instruments were from the from the J.Thibouville-Lamy workshops, this example is stamped J.T.L. on the inside on the top block. The J.T.L. firm was known to have acquired the brands for Mansuy and N.Duchéne after their deaths. In excellent condition considering it was made around 1880, just minor varnish blemishes and marks and some finger wear on the front beside the fingerboard. Set up with rosewood fittings, with a one piece back 14.3/16 (36cm.). Fitted with Dominant strings and supplied in a new case. Good in voice with a well balanced resonant tone. A nice instrument!
